British School GAME in The Hague | 148 students | 19th of september 2024

The students really enjoyed the day and seemed to get a lot out of it.  Their feedback has been really positive and they’re still talking about it (always a good sign!).

I’d asked a few of them to write a bit about the day (to share with parents in a newsletter) and thought you might like to read what they said too:-

From Cagla:-

The Game was similar to an escape room except it was outside and took place in Den Haag. We were all in groups of six and were meant to solve questions across Den Haag. While solving the questions, there was a team of people following us, filming, and taking pictures. We met at Den Haag Centraal and were given a metal briefcase that contained a folder of questions that we had to solve, as well as all the equipment needed. There was also a phone that could be used to contact ‘The Game’ team.

Solving each of the questions was both fun and exhausting as we had to walk all across Den Haag. One of the most memorable parts of the game was using the phone to text silly messages to ‘The Game’ team, as well as the adrenaline rush from completing each question. By the time ‘The Game’ finished at 12:30, we were all exhausted. We had lunch and then headed back to school, where we were shown the footage of each team that had been taken throughout the day, as well as a rereading of some of the more memorable messages from each of the teams.

From Hannah:-

If I had to describe The Game in one word, it would be: whirlwind. From over 100 hundred students storming the train station lockers, roaming the city with metal briefcases, and being intrigued by the trench coat duo. In groups of 6, we were deployed across the city to solve questions, riddles and tasks to varying degrees of difficulty. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the hopelessness while trying to measure a statue at Het Plein. Exhilarating rush after exhilarating rush, question after question, a race towards victory. We were also provided with bonus activities with which we could gain points which resulted in my friend becoming addicted to the Gameboy’s Tetris game, and desperate googling to figure out whether roaming originated from the farm sector? At the end, despite all the tomfoolery via the Team phone, the hard work was worth it.

I think that both teachers and students will be recommending that we do The Game again next year with a new group of students.
